↠ It has been almost two weeks since I had my hand surgery and my recovery is going well. It will still be a bit longer before I can start my portraits again. Thank you for your support and please enjoy this gorgeous, fluffy cloud; Stark the Samoyed! ↞
💬 LONG POST ALERT TAKEN OVER BY MOM 💬
Since May is recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month, we thought that we would share... I am a Registered Nurse who has worked in many different areas in the medical field. I have studied various mental health disorders in nursing school and taken care of countless patients who are suffering from mental health issues. Never did I imagine that I would find myself experiencing the same thing. I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder beginning of this year. It has not only taken a toll on me, but my family and friends as well. I had always had this mindset that “it’s all up here 🧠” or I’d tell myself, “suck it up and get over it 👊🏼.” Not that I am overly hard on myself - but I wanted to try other alternatives first. I have always been into exercising and eating a healthy diet. I figured that I could control my own thoughts/feelings/emotions. NOT ALWAYS TRUE! I finally accepted that I needed additional help with this. Anxiety and depression often coincide with one another. It’s important to know when to seek help by a medical professional. More so, it’s important to know that it is okay to seek help. Often times, anxiety and depression can be “seasonal.” Everyone experiences difficulties in life. It’s learning HOW to deal and take control, and knowing that it’s okay and you are not alone. Your health is vital!
Adopting Lily has been the greatest thing that’s happened to me this year. I truly believe in pet therapy and the healing mechanism behind it. Lily has helped me tremendously with my anxiety - in ways I didn’t ever expect. Although Lily is just a 4 month old puppy, she has already begun training classes to get her where she needs to be to become a Certified Therapy Dog. And I am so proud of her progress so far! ☺️ I have worked in Children’s Hospitals and cannot even begin to express the feeling of seeing the patients’ faces light up when they get a visit from the dog! Putting medicine aside, even if it’s just for the moment, is often very healing. Not only for kids, but adults too!
May 20th was National Dog Rescue Day. In many ways, I’d like to think that Lily rescued me. I love you Lily Bear 💕
One thing I love the most about the Heath is the long grass! I go hunting and chase the mice 🐁 and moles. I promise mummy that one day I will catch her a mouse but she says she would prefer if I dug up some gold...I think she means she wants chimkinnuggies 🍗
Admire my butt - the floofiest butt of all time 😜! This is me in my summer coat. People I meet often think I'm a huge dog but I am normally about 39 lbs. -Lily
