I love the N E T H E R A N D S 🇳🇱♥️🇳🇱 - If I didn't work anymore, I would just move to Holland. Here everything is so nice 🤩the weather😅, the vegetation (everywhere grow hollyhocks from the wall cracks), the cottages, the furnishings, the shops - everything 😍. Today we explored #middelburg went to the flea market, ate Kibbeling with fries and of course visited @hemanederland 😎! Well, if you need a second home, you might as well go to ha ha ha 😂

Happy Monday all! 😀👋🌻🍈💞 I hope you're all feeling groovy today.😅 If not, take big deep breaths, let go whatever is bothering you and motor on. Easier said than done, but, hey, the first step to well-being is taking that first step.💖
Anyway, how do you like these pieces of artwork? They are hanging in our dining area, and as you would have probably noticed in my squares that I love warm, bold colours. 😀
So, have you ever been to an art museum and tried to analyse an artwork? I bet you no two interpretations of the observers are ever the same. A lot of artists, in my opinion, like to leave their work open to interpretation and as for the casual art admirers, you will hear different versions and ideas as to what the artist is trying to convey. That's the beauty of art - it arouses our curiosity and taps into our imagination. Some would say, it would be easier if the artist just captioned the damn thing and wrote a piece about its meaning. Aaah yes, we love our labels, where it says, "does-exactly-what-it-says-on-the-tin."😂
Well, joke aside, art for me is very personal - it is a by-product of emotions and inspirations. It gives subtle messages but never too much as to give everything away. Yeah, I can say we are all like pieces of art, giving away a bit but never a glimpse of the soul. BUT, if you, the observer, are smart enough and removed from emotional attachments and predilections, you may be awarded by the subject the answers you're looking for -the true meaning. And speaking of true meanings, if ever you come across a situation and it doesn't add up, well, the truth was probably never put into the equation in the first place. Just saying!
PS Next time you are looking at the object of your admiration, try to detach yourself from thoughts and emotions, and simply be.
Love to all!😀💞
I just adore this little pocket of our nursery! From converting the dresser into a changing table to designing the animal illustrations to creating the cut paper landscapes, this nursery was a labor of love for me as I waited for our little man to arrive. Those pieces of art on his gallery wall are some of my favorite things that I've ever made. Do you have a favorite piece that you've ever made??
Have rarely seen a set of mis-matched chairs bring in such cheerful vibes ! It's from the beautiful feed of @polkadotingrid .
Stockist appreciation post!!! @indiangoodscompany we are in love with your colour loving hearts!
Day 19 - Metallic ... slightly ethereal offering today and annoyed that I fail to plan ahead as last night’s post would have worked too! Love a bit of copper and this mirror is one of my favourite things in the house reflecting it’s best original feature ...
Mooie nieuwe week liefhebbers ♥️✨
Love this sneakpeak into my diningroom while dancing through the hallway. You are seeing it right: different types of diningchairs. They said it’s a trend right, or is it out of trend already? Well I like it. Do you also have different kind of diningchairs or do you prefer to have the same chairs around your table? Well I confess: symmetry is not really my cup of tea 🤪
Have a lovely week ♥️✨
We have a 2 year old in the house !! 🤪🤪
Welcoming #terribletwos 😅
Hope you all had a lovely weekend !! Ours was fun ! We had a tiny party with friends over the weekend & cousins arrived to stay with us this week 😃 going to be a busy week but atleast it’s sunny now 😍 can’t complain !! #crashbangcolour
Funny story, the pictured gold trunk was screaming at me from the minute I walked in the thrift store and so I made a beeline straight for it, picked it up and carried it to the front of the store. I hear an elderly man who witnessed this swift maneuver say to me, "oh my, you're a brute". I laugh and agree and carry my literal treasure chest out of the store and google what I already know:
1. a savage violent person or animal.
2. an animal as opposed to a human being.
Great, thanks sir. But you know what, I am strong and know what I want and in that moment it was this gorgeous gold chest.
I’ve gone through my thrift store tips/ what I look for and it’s live on my blog today. It may or may not involve biting people to get what you want. JK I’m not a brute.
If I had this view to wake up to, I know my Monday mornings would be a bit happier! Jon helped me hang a couple of pieces of art this weekend including this beauty by @gina_julian ! I’m currently sleep walking around the kitchen trying to get the boys ready for their last week of camp, then it’s back home to finish up some work and get ready to head into the city for @hgtvmagpromo block party!!!! Anyone else going?
Lil showhouse showcase in the September issue of Atlanta Homes + Lifestyles Mag 🌟 Love what @stephaniejarvisinc did with my Geode wallpaper here. I can’t wait to see where else these papers go in the future...
I was just riding my bike and thought I could have a bunch of flowers at home - but then I thought that flower picking is actually a kind of violent act and dismissed the idea. At that moment I found this freshly cut sunflower on the muddy ground so now I‘ve got a flower on my table that would have died anyway. Love it when life‘s that funny. 🌻🌻🌻
Oh that rustic French P A T I N A 😍
We can’t wait to share more images of this later in the week 👩🏻🔧
It requires a little TLC first 😊

Iam crazy about the look of this finish on this latest piece.
Everyday magic 🌙.
I’ve very recently begun using this lovely celebration ring. Although not in the traditional way...I have placed it on the kitchen table, to make our gatherings there a little more magical, to bring a stronger sense of rhythm to our day ✨.
I absolutely love it and it certainly brings a little magic to mealtimes and everyday life....In the centre I have placed some of our treasures recently collected, from the beach and the forest ✨.
Do you use a celebration ring? ✨.
@grimmswoodentoys Celebration ring, candles and figures from @conscious_craft 💛.

After what feels like the longest winter ever, we’re so thrilled to discover these sweet colour palettes by @melanie.johnsson. This one is inspired by summer and tbh we can’t wait for a little sunshine in our eyes! Which freshly named colour would make it on to your palette? Manic Monday magenta perhaps?

I love our range of blues; from pale and cool through to deep and dark, we have over 50 different shades to choose from. #bluedecor#styleitdark#blue
Current situation . Maths with miss 11. Miss 11 “no Mum ! Use stepping stones to work the answer out “... ME: “ da fuq with stepping stones ? Carry the bloody 5 and drop the two and finish the question in one line “..... mean while Miss 5 half way down the page still breaking down one maths equation into 262738 parts . Like why? Teachers why???
We looked after a friend’s baby today and it felt very special. Not only is he a complete delight (he even fell asleep in my arms 😍) but because it also gave us a little insight into what family life would be like if/when we are able to grow our family through adoption.
The girls have been counting down to it for weeks and as expected were besotted. They spent hours singing to him, trying to make him laugh, kissing him gently on the head and holding his sippy cup to let him drink.
I think it’s safe to say the Otto household is a very broody one!
I can only describe the broodiness I feel as being similar to how I felt with our first child. It feels the same, the yearning and longing, yet more external some how. I don’t crave to feel kicks inside of me like I did before, but only to love and nurture a baby who, at first, will not even recognise our voices.
I don’t long to be protectively rubbing my belly like I used to cherish previously or to be bonding over breast feeding.
But we do long for you little one. We hate that wherever you are, it may be too hard for you to stay with your Mummy and Daddy.
We hate that there are SO many like you, currently in the womb, learning to feel fear in a cocoon where many others just feel safe and nourished.
We have a long time to wait. But we are ready. All four of us are.
The wait is over! Our bestselling Banana Candle Holder is back in stock (but selling quickly so don't miss out...) 🍌
Have you ever seen a more scroll stopping floor lamp in your life? 😍 This utter beaut is brand new on the site. This is also a sneaky peek of the our new Aria Round Rug which is launching soooon! Tap pic for product details ✌️ #LiveFabulousAndFearless
Can’t remember the last time I posted on a Friday evening, but I couldn’t not share my new floor lamp that was kindly gifted to me by @iconic_lights ! Fabulous addition to my dining area 💡
P.s who else hates how ugly radiators look? 😂
Today started like any typical Monday. ⏰
Alarm goes off, I make coffee, put the morning news and my face on, start telling Judah he needs to eat breakfast, read his reader and get ready. Make his school lunch, get dressed, dress Ezra, tell Judah to hurry up and finish brushing his teeth, get him dressed and we’re out the door!
Only to arrive at school and there’s no school today! 🤦🏼♀️ #mumfail
Did I ever tell you that until my mid 30s, I was certain I there was nothing special about me? When I was young, I thought I was dumb. I was in theatre as a kid, but freaked out toward the end of my college days as a theatre major and transferred schools. It took me 6 years total to get my undergrad degree. And when I did, it was for reals a made up degree. Social Sciences with an emphasis in women’s studies and psychology. Because my advisor and I scoured the school catalog and plugged in all my credits and that’s what we were able to come up with based on the mixed up array of courses I’d taken. I felt like a failure. The one thing I was good at, theatre, was gone. I ended up in copy writing in advertising sort of by default because I’d gotten a job as a receptionist at an advertising agency, and was proofreading for the copy department while answering phones. Then I worked at a real estate agency in advertising. Then I got married and had kids. The first when I was 27. One day in my mid 30s, I literally woke up one morning and was like... now wait a minute. If other people can do xyz, why can’t I? So I just started trying things. I sewed, I used my photoshop skills I’d gotten in advertising and made my own logos and graphics, I sold collage art and jewelry from found objects to boutiques and then I started making handbags. I followed curiousity until I got where I am now. I create art for products, I’ve now written two books, one on sewing and the other decor, due out in March. I turned 50 in April and I’m an empty nester now. .
My friends, life is CRAZY. You absolutely do not know where it will lead you. But I promise that if you follow your curiousity (and stop judging yourself!) you will be just shocked as sh*t when you see where you end up.
