Today, June 19, marks Juneteenth Day
A day that celebrates black slaves freed from their enslavers. While not a national holiday, it is observed in the majority of American states by members of the black and POC community. "When you can't praise God for where you are, make sure you praise him that you aren't where you came from." America still has a lot of racist and hateful people and places, but today we choose to celebrate Freedom and the sacrifice of those ancestors that came before us. Enduring things we could never image.

One of the things that really frustrated me as a new mum who also came from a science background, was the lack of evidence based information available. One of the things I’d love to do when I have more time is write a blog to digest some of the science and make it more accessible - also to highlight when there just isn’t enough research for whatever reason. 🤞🏻 any areas you think would be relevant to cover in this - please let me know!

I am 2 months postpartum on the same day we are celebrating our oldest turning 11.
Hawthorn hit a growth spurt and I am finding myself carrying him quite a bit (in arms or sling). .
I no longer bind with a full Bengkung bind but this beautiful rebozo - made in Oaxaca and purchased to support the women making them - is a fantastic support for me.
This is what #momssupportingmoms looks like.
Something 💫 magical 💫 happens when you get a group of women together and you shower them in gifts and good wishes, information and support, and solid community so they know they’re not alone.
Thanks for joining us in the magic.
We can’t wait for it to happen again, so stay tuned 🌱🌷
Double tap if you've ever heard of #placentaencapsulation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You know, where the placenta is consumed after birth? Rest easy, we're not talking big hunks of raw placenta tossed into a smoothie, or roasted and served on a plate a la Kim Kardashian.* ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our process leaves you with carefully prepared capsules to ingest throughout the day, over a period of several weeks following the birth of your baby. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Not sure why someone would want to ingest their placenta? Find out tonight during this month's Facebook #Live. Have a burning question? Let us know in the comments and we'll be sure to address it!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
*Kim didn't actually have her placenta cooked and served, but told her family she did as a joke. Yes, we do sometimes keep up with the Kardashians.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Posted @withrepost • @featherandfawnbirth Did your care provider walk you through your baby’s first home? It’s such a wonderful educational opportunity to learn about this amazing organ and to understand the importance of allowing your body the time to rest in order to heal effectively. This is the amazing midwife Nancy who provides care in hospital at @mission_hospital with @lagunabeachobgyn_midwives or at home with @emergence_midwifery. Choosing a quality care provider is SO important in pregnancy. A topic that is coming up again and again lately for me with clients and students. This is something I’m so passionate about that I’m going to be doing an IGTV on it today (wish me luck, I’m not very savvy with these things!). I want to know from you what’s the most important aspect in a care provider? Did your provider meet your expectations and if not, why?
If you saw our episode of The Dish yesterday we talked all things self care for new moms. A great way to show yourself love is a massage. Our Registered Massage Therapists will come to you!

#doula#uterocorazon #sanacióndeútero #bendiciondeutero#uterocosmico#parirconplacer#embarazoyparto#embarazoconsciente#partorespetado#partoynacimientorespetado #mujerempoderada💪 #parirsinmiedo#partofisiologico#doulaprenatal#embarazosemanaasemana#castelar#caba#merlo#moreno#ituzaingo#zonaoeste#somoszonaoeste#yogaembarazo#pasodelrey
New Product Alert🚨! A few months back I posted a picture of me smudging my home using white sage in an abalone shell. Purifying my home is part of my cleaning routine. Both white sage and abalone are used to purify ones space and person of negative and stale energies. It should become as normal as cleaning the dishes or showering. ***Pictured: 4" Sage smudge bundle, 6" abalone shell, wooden unity stand to hold shell. DM for purchase*** As a doula, part of my routine includes cleansing myself with sage before attending a birth or going into a client's home. The reality is that we interact with the unseen daily, and I don't want to take any negativity into a client's home or birthing space.
As an M'tam initiate, I've learned the days in the month that are favorable for honoring Ancestors and the Divine so I don't cleanse with sage and abalone on these days because I want to draw my Ancestors and the Divine close.
Keep in mind, sage and abalone assist in cleansing the space and the person but is not a replacement for the work that we all must do to clean our hearts and minds.
To use: Pull back the yarn that's used to hold sage together. Light the end of bundle. Give it a few seconds before you gently blow the fire out as you want to make sure your sage is properly lit. Place sage on abalone shell and walk through home smudging every room. Pay close attention to corners, under beds and in closets because negative entities like to hide. Be sure to smudge yourself as well. You do this by holding the sage in your hand and moving it down the front of the body and under each foot. Hold the arms our one at a time, start at shoulder and go down the top then under the bottom, don't forget about your head. You remove the negative energy by smudging counter clockwise. Do your best to get the smoke from the sage behind the back. Place the smudge stick back in the shell if you removed it. You can let it continue to burn or put it out by gently pressing the lit end against the inside of the shell as if you were putting out a cigarette. ✌🏾&💚 #cleanse

Patience opens our eyes to beauty: the beauty of the rise and fall of a sleeping baby’s chest, a sobbing kiss, of uninhibited playful anarchy. Looking back to the years of mothering and my children’s births, what stands out, golden haloed, are the unhurried, patient moments. When I was able to silence the harrowing beat of shoulds and scheduled, egos and wills, beauty blossomed. I remembered that something precious was happening here, right now. I remembered to fall in love. 📷: @ashliebehmphotography ~ Tina Lilly, Labor, Love and Liberation
Father’s Day Strawberry Full Moon Magic. Water releases. Raining babies. Happiness.
This pregnancy/birth/postpartum has taught me to accept help. I’m typically an “I got this. I’m good” sort of person, but I didn’t really have that option this time around. Or maybe I did, but I saw how that worked out last time around (it didn’t) and decided to practice what I preach. I was so tired and sick my whole pregnancy, that I had to ask for, and accept help, for Grey’s sake. I kept telling Dan (to tell myself) that I was planning my postpartum care, as if I were planning it for someone I love.
For my birth, I found a care provider I truly trusted, surrounded myself with knowledgeable, supportive people, and allowed myself to lean on them. Literally and figuratively. My midwife was a calm and reassuring presence, who encouraged me to have faith in my body. My partner held me, supported me, and cried with me. My mom/doula never let the faith out of her eyes, and was my touchstone of peace. Grey shouted encouragements, and my brother watched over him, so we didn’t have to worry. Each person filled a role that was vital to me. I will never say it enough, birth is a microcosm of life. It is painful and beautiful, and it will be made or broken by the people you surround yourself with. It has the ability to bring you to your knees in a way that will defeat you, or allow you to rise beyond what you knew you could do. I did my best. I was strong. But those arms around me, that hand on my back, and the watchful eye I was under, we’re everything to me. •

It's easy to forget all the things we have control over when we're bogged down by overwhelm!⠀⠀
I teach my students about the ubiquitous nature of environmental toxins so that they can understand where they are, how they are connected to the health conditions their clients are facing, and what to do about them.⠀⠀
Not all of this information is intended for your audience. In fact, all of my information should be filtered through you to speak directly to your audience in an authentic way that resonates with them.⠀⠀
If you dump all that you know on your clients, they will (understandably) be overwhelmed. So start with some hard truths that come with a happy ending; an ending we can write ourselves.⠀⠀
We need to remind our clients (and often ourselves) of all the ways that we CAN take back control of our health outcomes with simple life decisions.⠀⠀
We got this ✊⠀⠀
ps. Is anyone interested in some #talkingtoxins pointers? Do you want my two cents on how to tailor this information within your health based business for your unique audience? ⠀
Let me know in the comments!⠀⠀
B I R T H - birth is raw, beautiful, emotional, challenging, powerful, scary in moments, a rite of passage, trust, intuition, and most of all unexpected and doesn’t go to “plan” and that is motherhood.
When I look back at this picture, I remember my strength in this very moment. My emotions, my mind racing, my heart exploding inside.
So much to feel all at once.
I was laboring baby girl down naturally at my birth center and I had my midwife giving me IV’s even though I truly didn’t want them, she knew it was best since my water had been broken 24 hours. I was dilated to about 7 cm and contractions were getting intense about 3 minutes apart. At this point I was leaning on Jus for his strength and support and we were walking around and doing little dances to move baby girl down. My doula was massaging and rotating my hips to keep me comfortable.
My birth for those that know was nothing like what I expected or planned for and I learned very quickly that is motherhood.
On this weeks podcast I had the pleasure of having my doula @itsalexishaines on to discuss birth, her journey into motherhood, her own life story, and so much more.
This is a must listen. Motherhood is nothing like what you expect it to be and it starts at when they choose their own births.
Amelia Rei certainly chose hers and I’ve been learning ever since the moment she came into this world 😭🙏🏻🙏🏻 Mama’s who else?! Did your birth go as planned?

Thank you @bjorna for capturing this beautiful image & so many more. Even though my birth wasn’t what I expected it to be, I love every single photo of me entering into this new journey as a Momma. 👶🏼❤️
Прошу любить и жаловать «Лоно вселенной». i have finally finished working on this special journal and I would like to introduce you to this “The Cradle of the Universe”.

STOP HIDING 👉🏻 PEOPLE NEED YOU ✨ This picture is everything, isn't it? A happy couple with their new little addition. These are the moments that you want to help create, right?⠀
So stop hiding. I know, I'm being blunt but this is important. You can't help create these moments, you can't support these moments, your heart can't explode with pride and happiness in these moments if you're hiding.⠀
You have lives to change. You have moments to help people create. You have perfectly imperfect birth plans to plan. Does that even make sense? 😆 You know what I mean.⠀
I feel like you *might* be a little tired of hearing this... but I'm shouting it from the rooftops anyway because I KNOW it can be a game changer for you. How do I know? Because it was for me...⠀
Consistency + Action = Results.⠀
Let's make sure that all the families know who you are, what you do and how AMAZING this season of their life can be with your support and guidance. Let's do this by getting consistent on your social media.⠀
You all know me... I'm a huge advocate for decreasing struggle and the potential for postpartum mood disorders because of my own experience. I was that person, going to bed every night wishing for a solution that I didn't believe existed. You were my solution. I needed you to show up.⠀
I want the people looking for a solution to find you, so let's get intentional and consistent so that the parent who is struggling lands on you sees light and feels hope.⠀
Hop into the 5-day content creation challenge with me (it starts June 17th) and let's just get started with creating a huge inventory of content that will help you get consistent.⠀
Are you in? Link in my bio to join and comment when you do! I can't wait to dive in!⠀
