The old me is dying and I’m looking up at a new person. Reborn. I rode 3.2 miles today, shooting for 6 tomorrow morning. Feeling great! I am done living my life for the approval and appreciation of others, and for the material gods who only own our precious time for the lie of wealth, success, security and possessions. I got lost for a second and that road has led me so far from who I am it will take a minute to find my core once more. I was depressed and miserable with where I let my life go, I felt like a complete failure...But my roots are deep, The experiences I’ve lived thus far have only left me strong and wiser, along with a few lbs heavy and out of shape. 🤷🏼♂️😂 Some new goals , lose 50lbs, bike 20 miles a day 4 days a week... and certainly My focus is pleasing the Creator, in that there is only gain.
Additionally I can and will make the changes to ensure happiness and peace, and I choose to “live” life...not to exist, or barely make it or play the victim...I choose to live..one day at a time because time is short and there is so much joy to find left in this bitter, ugly world.. I began cutting out all of the harmful chemicals that we were using on a daily basis (cleaning products, lotions, air fresheners, laundry detergents, candles, sunscreen, etc). I made these decisions not just for my own sake, but for my little family as well. 👨👩👦👦💙 Not only am I a breastfeeding Mama, but I am also pregnant!🤰🏼🙏🏼 Knowing how directly my choices influence my children’s health really motivated me. I wanted to optimize my body as a vessel to carry life, and to continue nourishing my first baby. 👶🏻🤱🏼 One of the big changes I made was getting rid of all our (Bryan, Noah and 🐶Ryan too lol) shampoos and styling products and began using plant-based chemical free alternatives. 2 wheat pitas, sliced into triangles
1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
1/2 cup thin sliced cucumber
1/2 cup chickpeas, rinsed and drained
1/4 cup Kalamata olives, pitted and halved
1/4 red onion, sliced thin
1/4 cup Tzatziki sauce (see below for easy recipe)
1 Tbsp fresh chopped parsley leaves
In 2 lunch containers, add ingredients equally.
Cover and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
Add bread just before serving.
Easy Tzatziki Sauce:
1/2 cucumber (peeled and seeded)
1/4 tsp diced garlic
1/2 tsp lemon juice
1/3 cup packed fresh dill
1 cup plain greek yogurt
salt and pepper to taste
1. Grate the cucumber into a bowl.
2. Add the remaining ingredients and stir until combined.

It seems like this time of year I’m always trying to find ways to use zucchini from the garden. Tried a new flourless chocolate zucchini muffin made with black beans and it turned out really well. It’s even approved by my other half who is a little pickier about these things. It definitely isn’t super sweet but a nice way to quench the chocolate craving while also getting some fiber and lots of micronutrients without the sugar. Recipe link is in my bio. I used xylitol as the granulated sweetener. Be mindful of “healthy versions” and make sure you don’t just end up being unsatisfied and eating more than you usually would of the real thing. If you’re craving a chocolate muffin it’s okay to eat a chocolate muffin every once in a while if the healthier version doesn’t satisfy.

The importance of iron is becoming increasingly clear. A well-balanced diet should provide enough iron, but iron deficiencies are still pretty common . Next to overall well-being, iron deficiencies may also harm training performance since it decreases oxygen delivery to muscle . (Impaired oxygen delivery to muscle = fatigue more quickly)
When you're not getting ample amounts of a certain vitamin or mineral, supplementation is an option. But as the first step, I prefer looking into ways you can alter your existing diet to get more iron.
Meats are well-known sources of iron. There are also plenty of plant-based sources of iron. It's worth mentioning here though that plant-based iron sources contain non-heme iron, which has a lower absorption rate . Luckily, there's a simple way to improve the absorption rate of non-heme iron.
Vitamin C increases the absorption of iron , so you can improve the nutritional quality of your daily "veggie snack" by combining foods like lentil soup (iron source) with a kiwi (vitamin C source) or as showcased in the first picture, a kale salad with some orange slices .
