Metro bus station Saddar Rawalpindi.
This kid is lying at the corner of where the stairs of that station start. Today, I was at Saddar and I saw him. I stopped for a while and observed. He was sleeping and there was money lying around him which people gave him, thinking that he was begging. A thought came to my mind that he might be given some drugs. An elderly woman stopped. She was wearing extremely average clothes, had a stick in her hand and she tried to wake him up . Yes, I was right. He was actually given drugs. The woman kept on trying for 10 minutes. I stopped there. People started gathering.
There was a sweeper of metro bus station. He told me that daily, in the morning, this kid (aged between 9-11 years) is lying right in front of the stairs. Since, that place has CCTV cameras installed and no beggar is allowed there, he is taken to this corner of the station. The kid is there before the sweeper’s duty starts and he said that he’s only concerned about his duty and work because he doesn’t want to create any problems for himself and his job (And I think he was right). I asked the woman, she said he lives near to her place. I asked her from where she belongs, she said HAM PAAS JHUGGIYON MAIN REHTE HAIN (We live in slums nearby). I kept on questioning and she told me that this kid also lives there (in slums) with his parents and siblings. Someone gives him drugs daily and leaves him here. The drugs were given in such high dosage that when I saw his face, I was horrified. He probably had some accident in the past or someone abuses him due to which his one foot has only 2 fingers and the wounds are in healing stage (Some NEEM HAKEEM people nearby started suggesting that he might have diabetes but I didn’t answer them since it can’t be true) The cloth on which people threw the money, she took it, made a pouch of it and kept it under the abdomen of the child, tried to wake him up again and left.
A person, who was a regular user of metro bus service told me that he sees him here daily and please do something....... #spreadawareness#childabuse #stopchildabuse#pti #stopchildlabour#rawalpindicity#pakistan#spreadtheword
